About me
My name is Greg Newbegin. I’m Australian, and at the time of writing, I’m situated in Melbourne. Just entering my thirties, I’m still a sprightly young chicken. Wasn’t the best of students in High School (but I wasn’t the worst, either), and dropped out of University the first time I tried it (mostly because I found Computer Science boring… which I regret now, as that’s an area I now realise I’d like to get in to… sigh). Did a few years full time at a fast-food restaurant, and realised there was a lot to achieve from school- not the least of which being not having to work at a fast-food restaurant the rest of my life (not that that’s a bad thing… Wait, yeah, it is. Not my thing). Went back to Uni, studied Psychology and Human Biology… and couldn’t get a job (granted I didn’t try that hard).
So I went to live and teach the England-words in Japan. Ended up living in Tokyo for almost 5 years, and was an editor/rewriter at the end of my stretch (though… not a good one). Married Mihoko (who I met in Tokyo, of course) at the end of 2006, moved back to Oz at the end of 2007. Decided to start this page in March, 2008… and here we are. Actually, I had been thinking about it for some time, but never got around to it. Then Mihoko started asking me about how to do it, and as a result of my researching for her, I became interested. Which produced this site. And I’m really enjoying it so far.

I have been writing for as long as I can remember- from short stories as a tyke, to angsty (and poorly written) poetry- mostly penned as a teen while under the influence. If you’re lucky (and I get brave), I might even unveil some of my old work in future posts… But we’ll see about that…
In my later years, I have worked on a number of pieces (typing that made me feel so… lame), as well as kept a daily diary, but until now I have always considered writing to be a personal endeavour- although I have passed some of my work onto friends for their opinion… on very rare occasions. I started this page primarily for myself, as a means to release the internal struggle, but also in the hope that I can provide information to those with similar interests- or at least to promote a place to discuss current events in those areas.
I suppose the main focus of this page will be on video games- a passion I have held for as long as I can remember- I am a voracious reader of various publications, and attend game shows whenever possible. Of course, it’s not always possible. I will also cover my other loves- namely music, books, and screen media, although coverage in these areas is likely to be sporadic, as I don’t have the time that I used to… Nor the cash. I also plan to write reviews on whatever game/book/album/movie I find worthy, as I believe there can never be enough reviews on the net. Further details about myself can be found in the “Personal” category.
