Never enough time
September 7th, 2008 Posted in PersonalWell, that was a long day… Never enough time to do things. Friday, I was coming home from work, and the radio gave me the wicked idea for a post — it was something about the nature of people and so on, I like that shit, it’s interesting. But I got home, had… something… to do (can’t quite remember, perhaps it involved drinking… I know it involved a new game, hehe) and forgot! So now my super wicked post of awesomeness will resort to being a quick little rundown of the weekend… Because I’m rundown myself, and just want to do it the easy way. Yay for me and my resting brain.
Anyway, on my drive to and from work, I drive past a rather largish park called “Wattle Park.” Now, with my wife being Japanese and interested in all things Australian, I thought it would be a good idea to take her there. But of course, we also had some crazy shopping to do on the weekend (and particularly on Saturday), what with my becoming old next month and the obligatory celebratory event (obligatory because it’s one of those “achievement” years… Yay, I’ve achieved greatness in age!), plus the coming of my wonderful visitors from northern stinky town… we had to pull or fingers out.
We went to this park, and it was quite nice to be honest — big, with lots of nice trees and flowers and birds (Mihoko LOVES birds), plus some trams (!!), in which you could sit and have some eats (or perhaps they were just children play traps of pain)… It was really quite interesting. But due to our busy schedule, we had lunch there, walked around for 15 minutes, and were off again — off to do the grocery shopping (and pick up my heartburn tablets) prior to the more important shopping…
Anyway, Aussie shops being Aussie shops, we were in a rush because stupid closing times = stupid 5 o’clock. Needless to say, we were done before 5, and actually got everything we needed — a much welcomed surprise! Usually we find ourselves putting shit off till the following week… On a negative note, though, it cost more than I had planned for…
On returning home, I wanted to set up my old Dreamcast (well, it was handed down to me, so it’s mine now), but it turns out it won’t work on my ancient TV — even with a TV system converter (TV is PAL, but only runs at 50Hz… Stupid TV; Dreamcast is NTSC-J)! So there ain’t nothing fun in the guest room. Lame. Maybe I should pick up a cheap something from EB Games… Hmmm, that money could b better spent…
Collingwood won the footy, though. Not such a big Aussie rules fan, but that’s my team, and it’s finals time, so I thought I’d chuck that in there.
And now — NOW it’s Father’s Day. So I’m off to the folks place for what better be (shakes fist) a great lunch of awesomeness. I might even post a “Weekend BBQ” post if it warrants it, a throwback to the times of confusion that this page has gone through, and is still going through, to some extent.
And this crappy computer is still giving me troubles by not charging (stupid contacts in the stupid power input), so who knows what the future brings? Well, one thing it better bring is my kick-ass computer, and it better bring it in the first half of the week, or Greg will surely cry. Acer are a bunch of jerks. Also better bring some gas company resolution.
Oh — and Guitar Hero World Tour is coming to Oz on November 12! Yay and goodbye to my dollars! Why come before Xmas, you miserable bastard of a game?! I don’t need to buy a millionty presents… No, not at all! Sigh.
Anyway, the time has come for the parent visiting to begin. Fare thee well, and I shall see you on the other side.
