Too Human

No jokes. It’s actually pretty damn tops.

I’ve heard a lot of negative criticism regarding Too Human — mainly focusing on the swordplay an the method of attacking, but since playing the demo (now available on Xbox Live) my fears have been allayed. Sure, the controls are a little different, and even after playing for about an hour I still didn’t have the hang of them, but the point is that the game played like a dream, and the story was quite involving.

About 3-6 months ago, a video for the game appeared on Xbox Live. In this video, which went for about ten minutes (from memory :) ), we saw a bar get attacked by a large (huge) bear-like robot, and the game’s protaganist — Baldur — kicked its sorry butt. The demo actually follows on from there, referring to a video many players may not have seen (although it may have been in the intro… to be honest, I didn’t watch it.. hehe), and the story itself is just… Cool. Maybe that’s just me, I’m a big fan of history and ancient beliefs, so the game’s focus on Nordic gods is super cool… even though it’s also got a futuristic bent… To put it simply, it’s hard to explain. The video below gives you a bit of understanding, but trust me, it’s far cooler than that…

And the game itself is just cool. You can power up virtually everything, and there seems to be a whole bunch of different weapons and armour and… Damn. Another game I really want… Sigh…

Update: I wrote this in a bit of a hurry, which may be pretty obvious… Anyway, the game does have some negatives. For one, the animation is pretty crappy, and some moves just look out of place. Also, the camera is terrible, and takes a lot to get used to. These two points are the most niggling of problems, but they still didn’t take too much away from my enjoyment of the game. I recommend you try it out.
