E3 ‘08 — it begins
July 15th, 2008 Posted in Gadgets, GamesWell, you are probably well aware, but E3 is here. Info has been coming thick and fast, and it’s all pretty much repeated all over the shop. In my limited coverage, I will link back to my favourite source, which you may well know is Kotaku. Videos will most likely all be from GameTrailers, I find them to be the smoothest. Let’s get started with Day 1 then, shall we?
In this post, I won’t be inserting any videos, just laying out my impressions of certain announcements/videos/pictures, and providing links. Trust that there is a hell of a lot more news out there, but I am only one man, and I only have so much time. So I chose what I find to be super cool. If you know of something else that’s special, chuck it in the comments!

Geometry Wars 2 Looks like more of the same, which is a good thing. Brighter, and more colourful, and also looks like it is for up to four players, which is a good thing. Geometry Wars is one of my favourite XBLA titles, and I’m almost guaranteed to get this one… I mean, I even got Geometry Wars on Wii (also recommended… highly).

Lips? There’s more information in my post covering the Microsoft presser, but I’m one hell of a pissed-off gamer. I totally understand business, so I understand why Lips is being released, and so on and so forth — no worries. But as a gamer, who doesn’t have the $$ to get everything, but loves to have a good sing, I hate having to choose between continuing my SingStar collection, or waiting and purchasing this one… Sigh. Then again, if JoySound (WiiWare) finds it’s way south — which is highly doubtful, I know — I know what I’ll be doing!

Lord of the Rings Conquest- Very little news, but some nice, sexy pics to be seen here. Must reflect the sentiment the Kotaku writer expresses — only 150 in a battle that rightly warrants thousands? Almost absurd. Still, looks very sexy.

Mirror’s Edge The video at that link looks realy great. Perhaps a little disorienting, but so natural and realistic, that feeling goes away and you become drawn into the screen. This is one game that intrigues the hell out of me, but I’m not sure about it just yet…

Fable 2 Again, more details in the Microsoft presser post… Looks quite fun, actually. Looks to be pretty deep and engaging, but with so many other games, I’m not sure if I have the time…

Final Fantasy 13… Holy crap! This looks fucking awesome! Might even get over my fear (loathing?) of FF-style combat! And announced for 360, too! Wow… That’s all I can say… That video left me speechless… Especially the opening sequence…

Free Warhawk Update! This can only be a good thing… Free things are good things.Warhawk was fun, I spent my $40 on it, but damn it if it wasn’t a waste (my fault though, I bought it at a time when I just didn’t have time to play… then I got something else)… At least this way I have a reason to go back to it, and try to get in to it again… It’s just so… different…

Wii Motion Plus! Sweet! Nintendo updates their controllers! I’m all for the other companies ’stealing’ the motion-sensitive controller idea (then again, they all steal from each other, lets be honest), but I still have to say… Take that!
