Oldskool is so good. Bring on the Megaman.
July 11th, 2008 Posted in GamesWhen I first heard that Megaman 9 was coming to WiiWare, and that it would be similar to the originals, I was a little… well, I didn’t know what to think. First, I thought about the recent announcement of the Wario platformer, which I found rather impressive, then I thought… Hmmm… I never actually played any of the original Megaman games. Yep, I may love my games, and I have been playing games since long before the first Megaman was released, but I never got around to it. Sure, I’ve seen the games, and I know how popular they are… I just never played them. Then I saw this video.
I found the video at Kotaku, but it’s apparently from IGN; however, when I looked on the IGN website I couldn’t immediately find it , so I gave up. Whatever. The video is cool, extremely oldskool, far more than the Wario title. But I have a strange feeling that it might be TOO oldskool… The Wario title seems to bring in a whole lot of new ideas — but then again, that will be a full-priced title, and Megaman will be released for much cheaper on WiiWare, PSN and XBLA… Based on the fact that it is a NEW title, styled in the much-loved ways of old… I think it will do VERY well. I know I’ll be getting it, that’s for sure.
