Guitar Hero: On Tour? No thanks.

July 3rd, 2008 Posted in Games

Guitar Hero: On TourOK, I’m a nerd, I love my video games, and so on, and so forth. But I’m a strange one, I am. While I have all available systems, I’m not much of a handheld gamer. Since moving back to Oz and buying a car, I haven’t felt the need to whip out my DS or PSP all that often — well, God of War was worth it… And now Guitar Hero: On Tour has been released on DS, and if you’ve been reading this site, you should be fairly aware that I’m a fan of music games, particularly the Guitar Hero franchise. But you know what? I’m not interested in playing it on DS. Here’s why.

I’m not so interested in playing handheld games, when I can play them on my TV just as easily. I mean, if I’m gonna play a game at home, why would I pull out the DS? On top of that, why would I use some completely ridiculous add-on to be able to play it in a similar way to using a guitar controller? Well, OK, it’s not a bad idea, for those that do have the time and an appropriate place in which to play their DS, but for me, it just doesn’t cut it. But the biggest reason that I am not interested in playing Guitar Hero: On Tour on the DS — even if I did have the time to play my DS — is due to the fact that the reason I love Guitar Hero in the first place is because it feels like I’m playing guitar. I feel like the mad guitar-playing dude. I don’t see myself feeling that with my DS in my hand, strumming at the screen and pressing the buttons on the side. Just don’t feel it. Sorry.
