Sigh. Rock Band 2 announced.

Ok, I’m not gonna pretend i didn’t expect this to happen, I just didn’t expect it to happen so soon. Due for release towards the end of the year (as early as September for Xbox 360), I’m kind of hoping this will spur the release of Guitar Hero World Tour. Of course, that may mean that my choice will have to be made sooner, and will probably be harder, but the point is it will be earlier. I have been fanging for a bit of Rock Band or Guitar Hero WT action for some time now (as you may well be aware), so in a way the news is welcome. I guess. And there’s more news than I expected.
Check out this interview at IGN (yes, this is ‘au.ign.com,’ but the article and release dates are from US IGN). There’s quite a bit of info there, probably most of it is to be expected — revamped online modes and the like — but there’s some pretty good stuff to be read in between the lines. For one, the person that was interviewed was Australian, and he specifically made a point of noting that the interviewer did not ask any questions about Australian music, and that makes me a bit of a happy chappy. Makes me think Australia may finally be on the Rock Band map…
Then there’s mention of the band ‘Tool’ – one of my favourites. The game that contains any song by Tool would almost seal the deal. Of course, I’m sure I read that they would be appearing on Guitar Hero World Tour as well, so that isn’t going to help me. There’s also a picture of the new guitar for RB2. Wow. Damn sexy.
Anyway, the bastards keep being jerks and releasing news that I just can’t deal with effectively. I don’t know which game to choose, but the fact I already have a Guitar Hero guitar is making me lean towards GHWT… Sigh. Why can’t the jerks be friends and stop jerking us around like jerks? Sigh.
