PS3 Trophies are coming!

This is exciting! It has been reported that in the next update for the PS3, to version 2.40, Sony have included Trophies — the PlayStation answer to Achievements. This is great, because a lot of my Xbox 360 gaming has been focused on Achievements. It really kind of adds a touch of old-skool high score attacks to your profile, and that’s always a good thing.
The picture above was taken from PS3Fanboy.com, an aptly-named site, and there is a bit of a write-up there of a couple of rumours that accompany this info, so go check it out. Personally, I think this picture looks pretty legit, but possibly old. The ‘gamertag’ seems to be lacking a bit of info (they have another picture of another ‘gamertag’ with different info on it as well), and just doesn’t have the polish that a finished product would have. I reckon it will look a little different, but I can’t be sure, of course…
On top of that, PSTrophies seem to be a little less impressive than Achievements though — Only Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze Trophies for each game? Or are there mini-achievements that make up each trophy, or… ? We shall see… It my turn out to be just as good, but so far it looks slightly inferior… Still, it’s something that the PS3 was lacking!
