Weekend BBQ - Homemade Keftedes (Greek meatballs)

Lamb Meat Sticks

A few weeks back, we went to a Greek restaurant for my brother-in-law’s birthday, and enjoyed some traditional Greek cuisine. As many people may (or may not) have experienced, we were blown away b the Keftedes - lamb meatballs. They were, of course, ball-shaped, and were probably cooked over coals or wood, as they had an awesome smokey taste… We decided from then that we HAD to give it a go.

Type Greek meatballs in to Google, and you will get a million recipes. From that, we took some tips, and created our own recipe, because putting your on spin on things often makes for the best food. Basically, we used lamb mince, fresh mint, chopped garlic and onion, some Italian herbs, and some breadcrumbs. Kept it simple. The mint was MOST important. Make sure you use a LOT of mint, and your tummy will be happy.

Anyway, the only problem with our meat sticks was the fact that I cooked them too slow. They really have to be cooked really quickly, so they burn a little on the outside - bit of charred meat never goes astray! Really adds to the flavour. Make these meatballs (or sticks, like we did)! They are REALLY good!

Sundays petty much suck for news.
