Guitar Hero World Tour get?

There’s a pretty good write-up on Guitar Hero World Tour at IGN, or a slightly more condensed one at Kotaku for pretty much the same info but one one page instead of four. It’s definitely worth reading, especially because there are some pictures of the new guitar, and descriptions of its new functionality… Sounds pretty awesome, but I’m not sure how much I’ll use the new slide bar… Still, looks pretty sexy.
The rest of the info is pretty simple really. Basic microphone details, drum details we already knew, and an overall description of a game designed in much the way you are probably expecting if you’ve played Guitar Hero before. There’s a lot to read about the music editor, however, but that’s another thing I don’t see myself using much. I love music, but it will only let me listen, it won’t let me sculpt.
Actually, there have been quite a few posts on Kotaku in recent times about GHWT. The most interesting thing I found, though, was that Guitar Hero III downloadable content will work with Guitar Hero World Tour. That pretty much makes my decision for me right there. It sounds as if they are doing the right thing by DLC, and they know what they are up against in regards to Rock Band. What does that mean for me? Well, it means that I will most likely choose GHWT, even given that Rock Band has such a strong base of DLC… The GHWT instruments just kick ass. And apparently there’s 85 master tracks shipping on the disc. Sold.
Well… Things can always change, awesome things can be screwed up at any time. One of the games could try to monopolise and restrict the songs that can be purchased; GHWT could follow GH3 and not allow DLC to be included in the main set list (adding them on a separate list was pretty lame in my opinion); there are a great many things that could go wrong. Fingers crossed.
