Ghostbusters: The Video Game — Sweet!
June 12th, 2008 Posted in GamesSigh. One of my biggest dreams as a child was to become a Ghostbuster. For me, the Ghostbusters were bigger than Indy, and (dare I say it) far cooler than Star Wars. I suppose I came from a later breed (although Return of the Jedi did it for me, for a while). My favourite toy was my Ghostbusters car- yes, I had a model of the Ecto-1. And it was rad (and I still have it, somewhere)…
After finding this video, I am now in super-excitement-crazy mode. It looks great, and (it may just be the song playing throughout in the background, I’m not sure) it has a hell of a lot of the Ghostbusters personality and feel to it. Slimer moves like Slimer, the Stay-Puft Marshmallow man is PERFECT! Sigh… Love it. I was concerned that this ‘new’ addition to the series contained so much of the ‘old,’ but I have decided it’s necessary. If it was all new, it couldn’t capture what it once was. The icons are necessary, and, for me, welcome.
I am in awe of this game. It’s probably at the top of my most wanted list (with a decidedly non-commital ‘band game’), but that’s because I eat up the hype. Written by Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd, who wrote the original flicks, and voiced by the original actors, it sounds like a fan’s wet dream. And with (apparently) a hell of a lot of dialogue under its belt, it’s bound to be friggin’ AWESOME! I can NOT wait!
*giggles with schoolgirl glee*
Ahem… Yes, so what got me all excited about it today? It’s been around a while, why bring it up today? Well, I read this little article on Kotaku. Quite a good read, if you’re a fan of the series, or even if you’re just a little interested in the game. I recommending!
