Complaining and praising… Whatever is required

Credit Cards … Level UP!

June 5th, 2008 Posted in News

CardsNot the most awe-inspiring news, but I found it interesting. From very recently (June 3), credit card users now have a choice when making their payment- sign or pin. When I was assigned a PIN number for my credit card a few months ago, I found it a little abnormal, but ignored it. Now I understand. If only I could remember my PIN… Problem is that my signature is not the most complex of scribbles. Anyone that steals my card is not going to have a problem making their choice.

Anyway, the Pen or PIN scheme (as they are calling it…) is an option at point-of-sale, so as much as it might be passed off as an increased security measure, it’s really only for convenience. To speed things up. So if someone steals your stuff, they can choose to forge your signature, same as always.

As a convenience thing, however, it’s probably something I’ll put to use. I like simplicity, and am impatient.
