Band Game Drum Kits: Comparison

Yeah, OK, so my artistic skills are wanting, but hey, you get the picture. Above, and although poorly represented, you can see the three drum sets for the next big clash- the war of the Band Games!
I expect that you have become fairly well acquainted with the Rock Band drum set by now. Four pads and a foot pedal, and comes with some wooden drum sticks. Apparently, it’s pretty loud to play, and there have been numerous attempts to create some way to muffle the sound, to varying success. Apart from the noise problems, it’s supposed to be pretty good.. but what would I know, hasn’t been released down under. Jerks.
My new favourite can be seen at the bottom, the Guitar Hero: World Tour drum set. Three pads, a foot pedal, and two raised cymbals. Not only does it have more drum bits, but it’s set up like one, too. Ahh… dreamboat… kit. Looks great, and apparently Activision have worked on reducing the sound that accompanies the beating of them with sticks…
Then there’s the Rock Revolution set (I found this picture at Gizmodo- check it out here). Seven pads, three of which look like they represent cymbals, and a foot pedal (not shown… not much to see there, really). Way to beef up the competition, Konami.
So that’s where it’s at. Personally, I think the Guitar Hero set looks boss (do the kids still say that these days? Wait… I never said that anyways… hmmm…). Set up appropriately, and doesn’t look like a crappy arcade rhythm game. Then, even given that the Rock Band set was first to be developed and therefore has less pads, I would have to say they still beat out the Rock Revolution kit. Looks like a kid drew a picture on a bit of paper, and they copied the design exactly (not that I am anybody to be picking on design skills… *ahem*).
Based on the sets alone, I’m drooling over Guitar Hero so far. Based on set lists, Rock Band. Guitars? Probably Guitar Hero, but we’ll have to see… Then there’s the microphones… Hmmm…
Well… Seems I’m not so interested in Rock Revolution. But Konami don’t need to give up yet (but they probably should). I mean, they used to be the kings of rhythm games. And they seem to be focusing on realism rather than fun fun. Huh? Hmmm… OK, maybe I should wait on more info about Rock Revolution before I make any rash decisions. That said, there are plenty of folk out there that are looking for a more realistic drum experience, I think.
So much choice, so little money. Sigh.
