Weekend BBQ: Sticks of Glory
May 24th, 2008 Posted in Weekend BBQ
Today, we created glory sticks. These are the wicked awesome sticks of tastiness. Of course, kids, if someone on the street asks if you want to try their glory stick you should probably say no, as they might not be referring to these wonderful creations of culinary goodness, but you never can tell. Descriptions, etc., follow!
There are two types: massive pork of glory, and super wicked awesome beef of glory. The pork types consist of … pork… and apple, of all things! We were a bit short for cash, so went went out on a limb, stuck some pork and apple on a stick, basted them with a honey-beer sauce (another of my totally bodacious creations), and bbq’d their juices out. Beef types were pretty standard fare: beef, onion, and red chili, with pepper and lemon juice. The important thing to remember when creating sticks of glory, is to cut the meat BIG, because it shrinks a helluva lot more than you would expect… We have been making sticks for some time, and have only recently stumbled across stick perfection.
So there you go. Masters of the BBQ unite! Beer helps the food cook better and the posts write easier! Weekend it up, good people, back to GTA4 for me!
Note: Mihoko has been adding recipes for some of these BBQ creations to her site about Melbourne (in Japanese, but the recipes are in English as well). I will add links to these pages some time in the future (once they are done, of course), so if you ever wanna try it out… you can!
