The Hobbit!?! On the big screen!?!

As a fan of the Lord of the Rings- of the books ever since I could read, and of the movies on first viewing- I always hoped there would be a film adaptation of the Hobbit- the prelude to the trilogy- but I never thought it would happen. Peter Jackson seemed opposed to the idea, and I couldn’t think of anybody else who could have ‘realised the dream’, so to speak.
Well, in the news today, I found this little snippet. It was pretty widely reported, but… Guillermo del Toro? Yep, he could pull a worthy version of the Hobbit out of his butt, that’s for damn sure! It would be somewhat different from a Peter Jackson envisioning, but the books themselves have a different feel to them, so it certainly wouldn’t hurt the films… and del Toro has a fabulous feel for the macabre and the fantastic- if this happens, I would be a happy nerd indeed!
Damn I loved the Hobbit when I was a little tacker… Read it so many times…
